Ohhh??? – To celebrate O, The Oprah Magazine’s 10th anniversary, the Queen of Daytime TV has handed out an iPad and $10,000 to each member of her magazine’s staff. On Wednesday, a spokesman for the mag said, “As a thank you for their hard work and dedication, Oprah Winfrey surprised the staff of O, The Oprah Magazine with an Apple iPad and a check for $10,000, to commemorate the magazine’s 10th anniversary.”

Google recently announced a new feature found in YouTube’s TestLabs. The YouTube Video Editor is a trial feature that will allow YouTube video creators to edit their videos online without any additional software. In its initial form, the video editor allows users to do the following: combine multiple videos to create a new longer video; trim the beginning and/or ending of videos; add soundtracks from YouTube’s AudioSwap library; and create new videos online with no uploading required.

Warren Buffet said he is seeing real signs of improvement in the economy, especially in manufacturing, though it will take another year for a sustainable housing recovery to take hold.

Apple Inc. reports it is has sold 1 million of its new iPad tablet computers in the month after its launch, meaning it’s been selling more than twice as fast as the iPhone did when it was new. Apple said it reached the milestone this week, when the new 3G model of the iPad was delivered to its first buyers. That model can access AT&T’s cellular broadband network. The first models had only Wi-Fi access.

William Shatner  - commander the Starship Enterprise on TV’s “Star Trek,” but can he command his native land of Canada? Some die-hard fans think so – they want the original Capt. James T. Kirk to lead Canada as Governor General. The Shatner believers have launched a Facebook campaign calling for Shatner, a native of Montreal, to be appointed to a real five-year mission as the ceremonial Governor General of Canada. As of Wednesday, nearly 41,000 people were supporting the bid.

Passing – Lynn Redgrave  who became a 1960s sensation as the freethinking title character of “Georgy Girl ” and later dramatized her troubled past in such one-woman stage performances as “Shakespeare for My Father” and “Nightingale,” has died. She was 67.

I let down our system of government and the dreams of all those young people that ought to get into government, but think it’s too corrupt… I let the American people down, and I have to carry that burden with me for the rest of my life,” Nixon told Frost.

3D TV Concerns – According to Samsung, children and teenagers may be more at risk to health issues related to 3D viewing. Those with family history of epilepsy or strokes are warned that exposure to flashing lights may cause seizures. Who else should avoid watching television in 3D? Pregnant women, the elderly, the sleep-deprived, those suffering from serious medical conditions and anyone under the influence of alcohol.Samsung also warned people to stop watching 3D if they experience any of the following symptoms: altered vision, lightheadedness, dizziness, – involuntary movements such as eye or muscle twitching, confusion, nausea, convulsions, cramps, and disorientation.

PR Power Play – Ryan Seacrest Saves The Day – American Idol” contestant Crystal Bowersox has been a frontrunner on the FOX reality competition from the start, but she reportedly almost quit the show two weeks ago. She walked off the show and was ready to call it quits, when host Ryan Seacrest saved the day. Crystal reportedly told Ryan, “What’s the point?” and said she couldn’t handle the competition. The singer said she was planning on leaving and returning to Ohio to be with her family.

What does selling this type of product do for a young girls self esteem? Is the media/ marketing companies making our kids grow up faster than they are ready for?

He Loves His Pad - When Norway’s prime minister found himself stuck in New York as a volcanic cloud grounded flights to Europe, he fired up his new Apple iPad and did the job remotely. In what could be a first for the new gadget, Jens Stoltenberg told CNN he used the iPad to manage the situation at home as Norway closed its airspace under threat from the ash.A photograph of Stoltenberg using the device was posted on the Internet by Norwegian officials under the title “The prime minister is working at the airport.

Ipad Glitches – Apple is acknowledging complaints that its new iPad computer has trouble connecting to the Internet. And it’s offering some possible solutions. “Under certain conditions, iPad may not automatically rejoin a known Wi-Fi network after restart or waking from sleep,” Apple said on its technical support site.

Oh Yes – For OS4 - Apple has unveiled details of its next-generation iPhone operating system in a press event at the company’s headquarters here. The new operating system, iPhone OS 4, will be released to developers this week and to consumers this summer. It will give developers access to calendar, photo library, still image and video data, and includes features aimed at helping apps run faster. As expected, the new OS will support multitasking of apps.

Don’t Expect Him Home Anytime Soon - Survivor” producer Bruce Beresford-Redman is a suspect in his wife’s death days after reporting her missing in the resort city of Cancun, a Mexican official said. The body of Monica Beresford-Redman was found Thursday in a sewer at the swanky Moon Palace resort where the family was on vacation, according to the official at the office of the attorney general for Quintana Roo state, where Cancun is located. A witness at the hotel saw the couple arguing Sunday, and Bruce Beresford-Redman has been detained as a suspect.

Music Passing – The British agent for former Sex Pistols manager Malcolm McLaren says the music impresario has died in New York. He was 64. Les Molloy says McLaren had been suffering from cancer for some time and died Thursday. The multitalented McLaren rose to fame as the colorful manager of seminal punk band The Sex Pistols. The art college dropout is also known for his famous “Let It Rock” clothes shop he opened on London’s Kings Road with Vivienne Westwood.

Airline Trend - Spirit Airlines will charge as much as $45 each way for a carry-on bag, adding a fee that bigger airlines have yet to try. The charge will apply to bags in the overhead bin. Personal items that fit under the seat will still be free. The new charge is $45 if paid at the gate, and $30 if paid in advance and begins Aug. 1. Spirit says a new fare reduction means most customers won’t really pay more to fly. It says having fewer carry-on bags will help empty the plane faster. Spirit also charges to check luggage.

More Ipad - Users who rushed to snap up Apple’s iPad are complaining within days of the slate computer’s highly anticipated release that they’re having trouble connecting it to the Internet. On Apple’s technical support Web site, there were 11 pages of comments Tuesday morning on a post saying Wi-Fi connections were weak or kept cutting out.

“Add me to the list with problems! I’m very disappointed that there’s no solution either,” one user wrote. “Does anyone think this can be fixed with an update, or should I just get a refund while there’s time?”

Good Pad – Apple says it sold more than 300,000 iPads on the first day of sales, including pre-ordered deliveries, deliveries to channel partners and sales at Apple retail stores. Apple also said that iPad users downloaded more than 1 million apps from its App Store and over 250,000 e-books from its iBookstore on the first day. Apple’s estimate was for the first day only, ending at midnight Saturday. It feels great to have the iPad launched into the world — it’s going to be a game changer,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO.

Google Acquires This Interesting Company – Episodic, a new video-hosting startup. On Friday afternoon, Episodic’s co-founders announced that Google had bought the company and will fold its employees into the GooglePlex in San Bruno. It’s another milestone in Google’s campaign to beef up YouTube’s capabilities; Episodic specializes in streamlining certain aspects of video hosting, including managing the ads inserted into clips, credit-card administration for on-demand video watching, and instant analytics that let film producers gauge what’s popular and what’s not in real time.

Starbucks has a new kind of store – It’s Roy Street Coffee & Tea by Starbucks Corp and it’s the result of Chief Executive Howard Schultz directing his store designers to break the mold and build a neighborhood coffee house from scratch. The cafe is located in Seattle’s eclectic Capitol Hill section, home to a vibrant gay community, grunge rockers, hipsters and mansion dwellers. It and the similarly edgy 15th Avenue Coffee & Tea, also in Starbucks’ hometown, have been dubbed “idea incubators” by the now mass-market coffee chain and operate in one of the most competitive cafe scenes in the country.

Grammy-winning Tejano singer Selena Quintanilla (23) dies after being shot at a Days Inn in Corpus Christi, by the former president of her fan club. The suspect was identified as Yolanda Salvidar (32) who until recently, had managed one of Selena’s two clothing boutiques and had run her fan club. But things began unraveling when it was discovered by Selena’s father, that Salvidar was embezzling money. The two women arranged to meet in the days Inn to go over receipts, and Selena was going to fire her, but as Selena approached the hotel room Saldivar shot her in the shoulder and back. Selena staggered to the hotel lobby, and was still conscious when the paramedics arrived, but was later pronounced dead at a nearby medical center. Meanwhile, Salvidar locked herself inside a red pickup truck in the hotel parking lot for more than nine hours, threatening to commit suicide. She surrendered, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder.

Howard Stern gets into a ton of hot water with the Latino Community after making light of Selena’s murder – including sound effect gunshots. Stern was heard to have made fun of the singer by playing her music accompanied by gunfire sounds. He also made fun of weeping mourners and made disparaging remarks about Mexicans living in America.

I Want My iPad – The demand curve for Apple’s new tablet computer crossed the supply curve sometime overnight Friday. By Saturday morning, the ship date for iPad pre-orders, originally set to guarantee delivery by April 3, had been pushed back to Tuesday April 12. Customers who had already pre-ordered are still scheduled to get their iPads next Saturday.

An Expensive Comic - The record price for a comic book, already broken twice this year, has fallen again. A copy of the 1938 edition of Action Comics No. 1 sold Monday for $1.5 million on the auction Web site ComicConnect.com. The issue features Superman’s debut and is widely considered the Holy Grail of comic books. The same issue sold in February for $1 million. That number was quickly bested when a 1939 comic book featuring Batman’s debut sold for $1 million and change.

Ricky Martin Comes Out, revealing that he is gay. Ricky spoke about his fears, writing: “Many people told me: ‘Ricky it’s not important,’ ‘it’s not worth it,’ ‘all the years you’ve worked and everything you’ve built will collapse,’ ‘many people in the world are not ready to accept your truth, your reality, your nature.’ Because all this advice came from people who I love dearly, I decided to move on with my life not sharing with the world my entire truth…”

Left A Good Job In The Citi – The Treasury Department said it will begin selling the stake it owns in Citigroup Inc., which could result in a profit to the government of more than $8 billion. The government received 7.7 billion shares of Citigroup in exchange for $25 billion it gave the bank during the 2008 credit crisis. It said it will sell the shares over the course of this year, depending on market conditions. Like any investor, the government will likely hold on to its shares if prices fall steeply. However, Citi shares have steadily been rising with the broader market in recent months, which means the Treasury Department stands to pocket a hefty profit.
