Popular in 2010 – Silly Bandz this year’s kiddie rage (and parents seem to love them too). They’re brightly colored silicone bands shaped like the outlines of animals, letters, princesses, and more. Kids, and a few notable parents such as Sarah Jessica Parker, stretch them out to wear like bracelets. When taken off they revert to their original shapes. Kids also trade them, count them, and fling them, which is why they’ve been banned in some schools around the country. A pack of 24 costs about $5. Robert J. Croak, the 47-year-old founder of BCP, says he has sold millions.
BP has spent $2 billion in two months of fighting its Gulf of Mexico oil spill and compensating victims, with no end in sight to the disaster or the price tag.
Tiger Cold - Tiger Woods has now thrown away chances to win five of the past six majors, the latest coming Sunday after a disastrous closing 4-over-par 75 at the 110th United States Open.
Gaga Non Gratis – Lady Gaga - the outlandish pop singer, talked her way past security and visited the Yankees clubhouse after the team lost to the New York Mets on Friday night. The New York Post reported Sunday that Yankees co-chairman Hal Steinbrenner was upset with Lady Gaga’s antics and permanently barred her from the locker room. While in the clubhouse, she reportedly drank whiskey while wearing a bikini bottom and a pinstriped jersey that was unbuttoned to reveal her bra. Several Yankees, including Robinson Cano and Alex Rodriquez and visited with her.

GM’s Back - General Motors Co., steadily returning to health after its near-collapse in 2009, said Wednesday it plans to pay off its government loans by June — five years ahead of schedule — and could report a profit as early as this year. GM said it lost $3.4 billion in the fourth quarter of 2009 on revenues of $32.3 billion. But things are on the upswing. Sales and production have increased and GM has gained U.S. market share since the start of the year. The automaker will try to maintain that momentum while facing a stiff challenge from a revitalized Ford.

Dancing Dethrones Idol - For the first time, Dancing With The Stars topped ratings American Idol, according to weekly Nielsen numbers. Come to think about it – it’s the first time a show – any show – has topped Idol in a while. For the week of March 29, ABC’s Dancing‘s Monday installment pulled in nearly 23 million viewers, making it the week’s most-watched show. Although Idol‘s viewership slipped (21.8 million Tuesday and 20.5 million Wednesday), the show performed better than Dancing among the coveted 18-to-49 demographic.

Out Of The Woods – Tiger Woods said he will return to golf next month at the Masters, ending a four-month hiatus brought on by a sex scandal that shattered his image as the gold standard in sports. “The Masters is where I won my first major and I view this tournament with great respect,” Woods said in a statement. “After a long and necessary time away from the game, I feel like I’m ready to start my season at Augusta.” Woods has not competed since Nov. 15 when he won the Australian Masters for his 82nd victory worldwide. Twelve days later, he crashed his car into a tree outside his Florida home, setting off shocking revelations that he had been cheating on his wife.

The record-breaking contract through 2017 could be worth up to $250 million if certain conditions are met. One of the albums will be of never-before-released Jackson recordings that will come out in November.
