Rosalie Trombley

From John O – Neil Diamond wrote songs about two girls – Rosie and Caroline. Where these real women in his life? Thank you for an awesome website. I look at it every day.

Mr. Pop History – Good question. “Caroline” of “Sweet Caroline” was Caroline Kennedy, daughter of John F. Kennedy.  “Cracklin’ “Rosie” was Rosalie Trombley, the music director of that great top-40 station CKLW (Windsor/Detroit), which many of us listened too back in the late 1960’s and into the 1970’s. Rosalie had another song named after her – by Detroit’s Bob Seger. She must have been something else.

Come back soon, as I answer, to the best of my knowledge, another one of your pop history/culture questions.
