From Diana F – Mr. Pop – I remember a guy by the name of Chuck McCann with a popular children’s television program in New York. Didn’t he do the same in Los Angeles?

Mr. Pop History – He did. McCann began his career with WABD/WNEW-TV’s “Wonderama” back in the 1950’s as a puppeteer. He then got his own children’s show on rival WNTA-TV (channel 13), then moved to WPIX, then back to WNEW-TV in New York. He left in 1967 for Hollywood, where Chuck McCann proved himself as an actor, who also appeared in commercials. During the early 1980’s, Chuck was between jobs, and agreed to go back to hosting a local children’s program – this time over KCOP-TV. It didn’t last long, but it answers your question.

Come back soon, as I answer, to the best of my knowledge, another one of your pop history/culture questions.
