| John Travolta |
From Cheylene R – Mr. Pop – Didn’t John Travolta have family in entertainment/acting? And, when did his initial career run begin to tank?
Mr. Pop History – As I said in an earlier q&a – John Travolta was unstoppable during disco’s prime. From records, TV, movies – he was everywhere.
Travolta’s initial star began to fall after Universal released “Moment by Moment.” He came back with “Urban Cowboy” but that was it for a long time. Many forget that it was older sister Ellen who became the first show biz bound Travolta, beginning in 1967.
John Travolta had a number of family members follow in his footsteps. Most of these folks showed up in during the late 1970’s:
Younger brother Joey Travolta – Was a recording artist for disco “Casablanca” records. He had a minor hit with something called “I Don’t Wanna Go” which was released on Millenium records, a subsidiary of Casablanca. Joey also had a one-year contract with Paramount Pictures. Not much happened.
Sister Ellen – Many remember her from the “Saturday Night Fever” TV take-off called “Makin’ It.” That was her biggest show-biz claim-to-fame. Although she had been in the business for some time, this came on the heels of her brother’s success.
Sister Annie – Had small roles in John’s “Grease” and “Urban Cowboy.”
Tom Fridley – Ellen’s son – appeared in an episode of “Fantasy Island. |
