| Bullwinkle |
From Floyd G – Mr. Pop – can you confirm that “Bullwinkle” The Moose” cartoons were made in Mexico? I have a bet with my brother. Thank you. Love your site!
Mr. Pop History – On the surface, you’d say – What! But it’s true, at least early on. Sponsors figured they could save a half-million bucks so an animation studio was hastily assembled in Mexico City. Five directors remained in Los Angeles and tried to direct long distance. They did. One of the cartoon’s saving graces was that it only used four drawings per second – even lower than the cheaper Saturday morning cartoons at the time. I believe this is when “Bullwinkle” was first run on NBC – way back when (check this site).
