Mr. Pop History – When you think of Karen, you think of her brother Richard, who formed the successful pop duo “The Carpenters.” Together, they had some 17 top-20 songs between 1970 and 1981.

To answer your question – Briefly. Karen was married to real estate developer Thomas Burris in 1980 and they divorced several years later. Karen Carpenter passed away in early 1983 from complications of Anorexia. She was 32.
