From Anita Z – Mr. Pop – How far back does the “American Music Awards” go? There are so many now, I believe this was the first one of its kind. Thanks.

Mr. Pop – The first “American Music Awards” goes all the way back to February of 1975 and it was the first of its kind. It was a different time. Presenters were Helen Reddy, Sly Stone and Roy Clark and the show featured Al Greene, Michael Jackson (before his superstardom), Olivia Newton John, Donny and Marie Osmond, Charley Pride, The Carpenters, The O’Jays and others.
