"Streets of Fire"

From Tom B – Mr. Pop – What movie was named after a Bruce Springsteen song? I’m scratching my head. Thanks!

Mr. Pop History – It’s a nice piece of Springsteen trivia. Just before it came out, it was rumored that Springsteen would be in the movie called “Streets of Fire” which opens with a quote from the song’s lyrics. It was a sort of reversal as a few Springsteen tunes up to that point were taken from movies. Songs such as “Thunder Road,” “Badlands” and “Point Blank.” BTW - Springsteen never appeared in the movie. The movie starred Michael Pare, who is from the same small New York town as Mr. Pop History.

Come back soon, as I answer, to the best of my knowledge, another one of your pop history/culture questions.
