"Got a Pop History/Pop Culture question from the 60's, 70's, 80's or 90's?" Just askmrpophistory@mrpophistory.com

Jan & Dean

From Roger N – Did the 1960’s surf/car pop duo Jan & Dean ever have their own record label? A book says yes, but when?

Mr. Pop History – After about 5 years on Liberty, such a label was formed in 1966 after Jan had his horrible car accident. Called J & D Records, the only single I know released was “Like a Summer Rain” (don’t know the b side). For some reason, Columbia Records released their next single – “Yellow Balloon.”

Come back soon, as I answer, to the best of my knowledge, another one of your pop history/culture questions.
