(1983) - Erno Rubik, inventor of the famed “Rubik’s Cube” and now a millionaire at 39, is at it again. Rubik, from Hungary, is working on something called Rubik’s Cheese. The plastic cheese should be available for international marketing early next year, perhaps under another name. The Cheese is basically a cube in another shape. He just finished a 300-page manuscript – a sort of autobiography for William Morrow & Co. He puts out a quarterly magazine – “Rubik’s dealing with “logic and fantasy. And he has set up a foundation to offer grants to promising Hungarian inventors. |

(1982) – Nightclub comedian Jim Carrey – “I’ve been doing impressions since I was 8, when I did a soprano John Wayne. I was born and raised in Jackson Point, which is the ice-fishing capital of Canada. My dad’s an accountant, but not your stereotypical office drone. He was a musician. He did a lot of emceeing and had a small orchestra. But he was never a success. He had to get serious because he had a family. I have two sisters and a brother. So you might say I’m living out his dreams.”
