"Saturday Night Live" Cast

From Glenn B – Mr. Pop – What year did the original “Not Ready For Prime Time Players” disappear from “Saturday Night Live?” Who replaced them?

Mr. Pop History – Great questions. The comedy sketch program was certainly in flux as producer Lorne Michaels left as well, although he’d return a few years later. There was lots of speculation that the show had run its course and it wasn’t as funny – so another producer was brought-in along with a major change.

 A whole new cast debuted in November of 1980. They were: Denny Dillon, Charles Rocket, Ann Risley, Joe Piscopo, Gail Matthius and Gilbert Gottfried. And yes, it’s the first time the show, then 5 years old, had any kind of major cast change.
