Louis - Conn Fight (1946)

From Ray A – Mr. Pop – What/when was the first televised boxing bout? My guess is sometime during the 1950’s. Thank you.

Mr. Pop History – The first TV boxing bout was for the heavyweight championship - in June of 1946. It was broadcast by WNBT (channel 4) in New York, which months earlier, had moved to channel 4 from their deleted channel 1 spot! The fight – Joe Louis Vs. Billy Conn. New York is really where commercial television began.
