From LaTanya K – Mr. Pop – Could you give me more information regarding a past question here? You said Diahann Carroll was the first African American to star in a TV series. I see bits and pieces of this series on the Internet. Do you have something more concrete? Thank you.

Mr. Pop History – Yes, your wish is my command. “Julia” was indeed the first TV series starring an African American. It ran two years on NBC-TV. Here’s something I dug out of a September 1968 TV Guide – and the debut of “Julia.”
