Early Projection TV Ad

From Joe T – As far as early TV’s go Mr. Pop – do you have any kind of information on big projection TV’s and when they began showing up?

Mr. Pop History – These days with everything HDTV and widescreen, I think the first one of its kind was this GE television from 1978. Still on the old 525-line system, it boasted a big picture which they actually called wide screen (although it wasn’t the same as today’s wide screen of 16-9). This is the first time - color-TV got big with the old 4-3 aspect ratio.
