From Larry U – Mr. Pop – before Internet short speak such is IMHO and LOL – wasn’t there such a thing for pagers?? 

Mr. Pop History – This was another phenom of the 1990’s – only with pagers! And teens were embracing this sort-of numbers-speak/pager-speak. It relied on numbers. Here are some examples:
6000 843 – Good bye
1 177155 400 – I miss you
5000 171647 – Good night
07734 (rotated upside down) – Hello
333 – Love
143 – I Love you
424 – Call me back
411 – I have a question.
