From Paul C – Mr. Pop – Please tell me when the first HDTV came out? I don’t mean those “sub” bigger screen TV’s of the 70’s, projection TV’s – anything of that order. But the first “modern” – HDTV. Thank you.

Mr. Pop History – Panasonic made the first one – and it was only sold in Japan back in 1990. Price was $34,000 and the screen was 36 inches wide.
