From Denise G – Hello Mr. Pop. Can you tell me, like the recordable compact disc – when did a recordable DVD unit first come out? Are they still around?

Mr. Pop History – Great question. The first stand-alone recordable DVD unit came out in 1999. They still exist, but – not many have been sold. Most DVD burning is done on PC’s  and when you add gimmicks such as Tivo – it’s just not that necessary.
