One of The Double Deckers
Skippy The Bush Kangaroo

From Richard - Mr. Pop History, as a child I remember the TV show Skippy the Bush Kangaroo. This was a live action half hour show that was made in Australia. I also remember the Double Deckers which was a live action show made in England about a bunch of English kids traveling on a Double Deck bus.

Could you tell us the years these shows were broadcast and I was wondering if you might have mp3 files of the theme songs to these shows? Thanks

Mr. Pop History - Beginning in 1966 - "Skippy The Bush Kangaroo" lasted three TV seasons in its native Australia and then became available to U.S. television in 1969. It ran as long as there was an audience for the 90+ episodes. Here's the Skippy theme song…

"Here Come The Double Deckers" has a unique distinction. It's the only British- produced show with its first airing in two countries at the same time. Both the BBC and ABC-TV began airing the children's series in September of 1970 and on the same day. Usually, British series aired later in America. In England, the series lasted about a year and on ABC-TV - all 17 episodes aired between 1970 and 1972. The premise was a bunch of kids who lived in a junkyard and traveled in the yard's resident double-decker bus. I must say, some of these kids had talent. Lots of singing too!

You could find the cast in the 1972 movie "Go For A Take." Read more at www.thedoubledeckers.com. Here's the theme song…
