Ben Vereen and the cast in Zoobilee Zoo

From Brittani H. - I have a distant memory of a show…I have no idea of the name but it was with characters (real people) dressed up as animals and there was a moral to every show. It was for kids and I remember watching it all the time. PLEASE HELP it is really bugging me. I was born in 1982 so it had to be in like 1987 or 1990 or so?

Mr. Pop History - Your description matches Zoobilee Zoo, which ran in syndication and on PBS from 1986-2001. Some of the animal cast members included Bill Der Beaver, Lookout Bear, Whazzat Kangaroo and Mayor Ben. Apparently, many kids from the era have fond memories of this show.
